Gigantic Ventures is seeking a freelance book designer to work remotely. The initial project will be to help a production team of project managers, writers, and photographers develop the initial design/layout for a book concept. Once the project gets the "green light" you'll be the natural "go to" for a second project (the rest of the book), so the client is hoping to find a freelance designer interested in a long-term client.
Strong candidates will have experience developing design concepts for print/book and/or magazine projects including an understanding of layout, typography, photo management, working knowledge of pre-press requirements and book manufacturing. The future designer will have excellent English and professional-level experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc). Hands-on illustration skills would be a bonus, but it isn't a requirement for this role.
The client is located in the US, but this work can happen from anywhere in the world for someone accustomed to working with distributed teams through Skype. If this sounds like you, please use our contact form with "Book Designer - Your Name" in the subject heading. Be sure to include the following in your response:
(a) links to 3+ relevant book projects, with short descriptions of your role in each book
(b) your standard hourly fees (loose estimates are fine), and
(c) a short paragraph explaining your interest, availability and fit for this role
Thanks in advance for you time, we're looking forward to meeting you!
