"Great products sell themselves." Quite possibly the most dangerous idea a startup can have.
In reality, no one knows you or your products exist which is why the most successful startups grow communities before going to market.

Wondering how to grow your fanbase? Study how the specialty food brands below present themselves to their respective target markets. What's truly remarkable about each company is that they were able to create active communities before building distribution, or selling DTC.
A few things to consider when reviewing their content:
(1) How do they tell their stories through their social channels?
(2) Who are they partnering with, inside and outside of their categories?
(3) How active are they out in the "real world" at live events?
